St.Mary's Parish Church
The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin
St.Mary's church is our parish church as well as a natural focus for pigrims of all denominations visiting Holy Island throughout the year. Please visit this link for information on the church calendar and regular service times. St.Aidan's Roman Catholic church and St.Cuthbert's Centre (URC) do not hold regular, daily services.
The Story of Holy Island
Written by Canon Rev Kate Tristram, author, island resident, historian, and previously head of Theology at Durham college, the 'The Story of Holy Island' is available at the Lindisfarne Centre and has become one of the most popular books on Holy Island of recent times.
The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin
Undoubtedly the Island's icons are the Castle and Priory. Lindisfarne Castle is managed by the 'National Trust' and Lindisfarne Priory by 'English Heritage'. Admission prices and events are published on the following links.

Guided walks on Holy Island
Holy Island is a nature reserve of international significance for its plant life and birds. The island is a place of uniqueness and there is always something interesting to see here. These walks, led by an experienced local guide, will introduce you to the many facets of life on Holy Island.

Lindisfarne Gospels
The 'Lindisfarne Gospels' were written on Holy Island and is now held by the British Library. The library presented a rare facsimile of the gospels to the community together with the interactive, electronic 'turning page' version.
These can be seen at the 'Lindisfarne Centre' together with other exciting interactives - these include the new 793ad Viking exhibition. Follow the gospel link for further information...
Theatre, Films & Arts
In North Northumberland you never need feel isolated from the theatre, films and the arts. Our local centre of excellence is "The Maltings" in nearby Berwick-upon-Tweed. And when the tide is right - that's where we go!
